KARACHI: In honor of the Urs of Abdullah Shah Ghazi, the local administration has declared Saturday, June 29, as a public holiday in Karachi. The announcement states that all offices of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) will be closed on this day.
On Tuesday, June 27, 2024, Syed Abdullah Shah Ghazi, the renowned Sufi saint of the subcontinent, celebrated his 1294th annual Urs, a three-day event. The Auqaf Department has announced that the celebrations will continue until Saturday, June 29.
The three-day Urs celebration was officially inaugurated by Sindh Governor Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori and the provincial Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs, Syed Riaz Hussain Shah Sherazi, by laying a wreath of flowers at the saint’s shrine. According to the statement, the celebration includes Mehfil-e-Sama, Mehfil Na’at, and a special Milad Mehfil for women.
The Chief Administrator Auqaf Sindh, Syed Attaullah Shah, and the Secretary of Religious Affairs were also in attendance.
