ISLAMABAD: The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has declared some of the clauses of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) ordinance as un-Islamic and against the Islamic Shariah.
In this regard, CII Chairman Dr. Qibla Ayaz suggested parliament to improve the NAB law ordinance. Moreover, the CII backed the NAB ordinance decision against blasphemous content on social media.
The council found clauses 14-D, 15 A and 26 of the NAB ordinance against teachings of the Islamic law, said Dr. Qibla Ayaz.
Dr. Ayaz added that the NAB’s handcuffing an accused and broadcasting it on media and keeping in detention was also against the Islamic Sharia.
According to Dr., the NAB’s amended ordinance has made the law more discriminatory and he called forced conversion of religion, was a violation of the Islamic teachings.
Last year in October, CII also certified 100 fatwas in support of polio vaccination. The council’s top body collectively decided to ratify fatwas by Islamic scholars in support of polio elimination.
The document stated that the CII was concerned that Pakistan was facing travel restrictions due to polio cases and it could face further economic difficulties in the future as such restrictions could be increased.
