Sindh Information and Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced that a leading Chinese automotive company has committed to establishing electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the province.
Speaking from the headquarters of Chery Automobile in Wuhu, Memon—joined by Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah—revealed that EV charging stations will be installed at intervals of 50 kilometers throughout all districts of Sindh.
“Our objective is to advance environmentally sustainable transport by promoting electric vehicles,” Memon said. “This initiative will not only encourage green mobility but also generate employment opportunities for the local population.”
He further announced plans to establish an EV mini-truck assembly facility in Karachi, aimed at making electric transport solutions more accessible and cost-effective for the public.
In addition, Energy Minister Nasir Shah underscored the strengthening energy collaboration between Sindh and Chinese firms, particularly in the solar sector.
He said that solar energy systems are being distributed to low-income households as part of broader efforts to alleviate electricity costs and support household-level solarization across the province.
