ISLAMABAD: Chinese youth belonging to the diplomatic corps in Islamabad have recreated a famous Pakistani song ‘Dosti’ which was originally sung by the legendary Nazia Hassan. The remake has been posted on a YouTube channel titled ‘ISB NewYouth’.
In the description box of the video, the youth wrote, “We sang the song of Pakistan ‘Dosti’ in the Urdu language. Long live the friendship between China and Pakistan.” This remake is a unique way for young diplomats to raise awareness about the Global Development Initiative.
The YouTube channel not only features the youth’s remake of ‘Dosti’ but also explains the priority areas of the Global Development Initiative. The channel also has informal discussions about the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and promises more content in the future.
Nazia Hassan was a Pakistani pop singer who rose to fame with her hit song “Aap Jaisa Koi” from the Bollywood movie “Qurbani” in 1980. She became one of the most prominent and successful singers in Pakistan during the 1980s and was known for her melodious voice and modern, westernized style. She continued to release hit songs throughout the decade, including “Disco Deewane” and “Boom Boom”. Hassan was also an accomplished lawyer and social activist, working on behalf of various causes such as child welfare and women’s rights. She passed away in 2000 at the age of 35 due to cancer.
The Global Development Initiative was proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping on September 21, 2021. The next year, he presided over a dialogue on global development called ‘Foster a Global Development Partnership for the New Era to Jointly Implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.’ More than 100 countries and international organizations have expressed their support for the initiative, with 68 countries joining the Group of Friends of the GDI as of October 2022.
This initiative aims to foster cooperation between countries and organizations to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. The Chinese diplomatic youth’s remake of ‘Dosti’ shows their commitment to strengthening the friendship between China and Pakistan and contributing to the global development cause.
