BEIJING: China has reacted positively on verdict, given by Pakistan’s court in 2021 Dasu terrorist attack.

Spokesperson for the China’s foreign ministry, when asked to comment over the court’s verdict on several suspects suspected of organizing and participating in the “7.14” Dasu terrorist attack, including the death penalty for individual leaders, said “the Pakistani side attaches great importance to the investigation of the ‘7.14’ Dasu terrorist attack and has made every effort to find out the truth and punish the real culprits severely. China appreciates this.”

A special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on November 11 had handed over death sentence to two accused of a terrorist attack on a bus carrying Chinese engineers working at Dasu Hydropower Project. The court had also imposed Rs 40 million fine on both the convicted terrorists, besides awarding them a total of around 800 years of imprisonment beside life imprisonment. All the sentences shall run concurrently. Benefits of Section 382–B CrPC has also been extended in favour of the accused.
Spokesperson Mao Ning said the suspects in the case were finally brought to justice, which is an outreach to justice and a consolation to the Chinese compatriots who died.
She said “China will continue to firmly support Pakistan’s anti-terrorism efforts and effectively guarantee the safety of Chinese citizens, institutions and projects in Pakistan.”
Mao Ning said the Communist Party of China and the government adhered to the people-centered governance concept, practice the overall national security concept with the purpose of people’s safety, attach great importance to the security protection of overseas Chinese citizens, institutions and projects, and make great efforts to this end.
“We will further increase investment, strengthen early warning of security risks, improve emergency response capabilities, and work together with relevant countries to resolutely safeguard the safety of overseas Chinese citizens, institutions, and projects,” she added.
