ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial has taken suo motu notice of the situation after the Deputy Speaker rejected the no-trust motion again Prime Minister Imran Khan in the National Assembly and the later dissolving of the assembly by the president.
A statement issued by the spokesperson of the Supreme Court has confirmed that the Chief Justice has taken suo motu notice of the current situation.
Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial has reached the Supreme Court and the judicial staff has also been summoned. Earlier, it was reported that the Chief Justice had invited other judges to his residence for consultation.
PPP lawyers have also entered the Supreme Court to file a petition. Advocate Shahbaz Khosa will file a petition against the Speaker’s rolling. Shahbaz Khosa said that the petition is being filed by Bilawal Bhutto and Nayyar Bukhari.
The Supreme Court has to decide whether the hearing will be held today or not. Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said that Senator Farooq Naik and Raza Rabbani are preparing the petition and will send it to the Registrar’s Office of the Supreme Court today.
Earlier in the NA sitting Deputy Speaker rejected the joint opposition no-trust motion against PM and called it against the constitution. Later on, on the advice of PM Imran Khan president Arif Alvi dissolve the National Assembly.
