Chicken prices have surged dramatically in Lahore and Karachi, with meat now being sold at Rs700 and Rs760 per kilogram, respectively. This sharp increase has caused considerable distress among consumers.
Local residents have voiced strong dissatisfaction with the over Rs100 hike in chicken prices and called on the authorities to enforce official rates. In response, Lahore Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza has taken notice of the issue and directed assistant commissioners and price magistrates to ensure compliance with the official pricing.
In Karachi, the situation is similar. Despite the official rate for live chicken being Rs420 per kilogram, it is being sold for Rs500 in the markets.
