KARACHI: The ‘Chehlum’ of Imam Hussain (AS) is being observed across the country with religious fervour amid tight security.
Pillion riding has been banned in six districts of Balochistan on the occasion of Chehlum, while mobile phone service in Quetta will remain closed from 9 am to 8 pm.
According to the statement, motorcycling will be banned in Quaidabad, Gawalmandi, Burari, Kalat, Sibi, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, and Jhal Magsi areas of Quetta.
The main procession will begin from Nishtar Park in Karachi. Strict security arrangements have been made on its corridors.

Mobile service will be suspended from 10 am across Sindh which will be restored at 10 pm. The Home Department has taken this step with reference to Chehlum Imam Hussain and the routes from the procession have also been closed with containers.
On the other hand, the spokesman of the traffic police said that due to the closed routes, people should take alternative routes during the procession. For the convenience of the public, the traffic police will be available to guide on alternative routes. Pillion riding will also be banned in Karachi.
