Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain made it clear on Sunday that the Punjab Assembly will not be dissolved at any cost.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri called on PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat to underscore the matters of the Punjab’s political arena.
During his meetup with the PML-Q supremo, Mr. Haideri inquired after Mr Hussain and also sent JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s wishes to the former prime minister [Shujaat].
Comparing PTI Chairman Imran Khan with Mr Hussain, Mr Haideri said, “The PTI chief the politics were based on the promotion of the culture of foul language in the country, whereas the politics of the PML-Q chief were merely based on tolerance.”
As the date for the trust vote draws closer, an apparent rift emerged between Punjab’s ruling allies — Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) — over Chief Minister Parvez Elahi’s vote of confidence.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan has tasked the party’s senior leaders to ensure that the provincial chief executive takes a vote of confidence before January 11, but CM Elahi has ruled it out, saying that Punjab Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman’s order for the trust vote is “illegal”.
PTI Senior Vice-President Fawad Chaudhry has said that the party wants the chief minister to take the trust vote before January 11 as the Lahore High Court (LHC) will resume hearing Elahi’s petition against his dismissal as the chief minister on the day — and the coalition plans on showing the court that their CM has the house’s confidence.
