KARACHI: As the nation celebrates its 75th Independence Day on Saturday, Pakistani celebrities got high in the spirit of patriotism and extended their warm wishes to the countrymen.

Celebs such as Shaan Shahid, Adeel Hussain, Zhalay Sarhadi and many others took to social media and hoped for peace and prosperity in Pakistan. Here’s how they wished Pakistan its 74th birthday!

Actress Nimra Khan posted a video of herself waving the flag to an instrumental version of the national anthem paying tribute to the thousands who have laid down their lives for the country.

Oscar-winner Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy paid tribute to the women of Pakistan in her post. “This Independence Day is an ode to our women who dare to speak the truth, who fight for justice, who open doors for other women, who are warriors and trailblazers and who work to free other women. They give me hope that there is a better tomorrow coming for all of us,” she wrote.

Ho Mann Jahaan star Adeel Hussain, in an Instgram post, wrote, “Never liked preaching. But it’s okay to hope for introspection in the face of so many challenges to our humanity. Many of our beliefs become justifications to stop listening or to forget that we are often not better than the person/people we are belittling or criticising. One has to be open to their own flaws if we’re going to make a better future. We have to treat each other better and with more respect. Check yourself. Be happy.”

Zhalay Sarhadi also shared a detailed note on what we should do this Independence Day. “On this 14th of August I am thankful to be alive and breathing, Housed and working, loved and with loved ones, speaking and not silenced! I do question though the freedom we might not have and can work towards achieving,” she penned.
