ISLAMABAD: A case has been registered into the tragic incident in which Federal Minister Mufti Abdul Shakoor lost his life in a car accident in Islamabad on Saturday evening.
The case has been registered with the Secretariat police station. The complaint was filed by the late minister’s friend, Qudratullah, and mentions provisions of accidental murder, over-speeding, and damage to the vehicle.
According to the first information report (FIR), Mufti Shakoor died on the spot after being hit by a high-speed vehicle, which also completely destroyed the federal minister’s official vehicle.
A CCTV footage has also surfaced online purporting to show the incident.
The traffic police submitted an initial report to the Islamabad police chief, which states that the accident was caused by over-speeding, as the speed of the double cabin vehicle was high, and the chance to apply brakes very low.
The airbag report of both the vehicles involved in the accident has also been submitted, and the remains of both vehicles have been moved to the Secretariat police station.
Meanwhile, Mufti Shakoor’s body has been shifted to his native village, Tajbi Khel in Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where his funeral prayers will be offered at 2 pm today.
