LAHORE: PTI leader Farrukh Habib and other party workers have been booked by Punjab Police for allegedly attacking law enforcement personnel to get Fawad Chaudhry released and under robbery charges.
An FIR was registered against PTI leader and workers late last night at Ferozewala police station on the complaint of federal police office Adeel Shaukat, under Sections 148, 149, 186, 225, 341, 353 and 395 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
It alleged Mr Habib and other armed suspects attacked police officers near Kala Shah Kaku when they were taking PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry to Islamabad.
The complaint said Mr Habib committed an offence by “interfering in official affairs” and “tearing uniforms of policemen”.
He further stated the PTI leader and his accomplices tried to snatch government weapons and vehicle.
This came within days after Islamabad police arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry from his Lahore residence for ‘threatening’ Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) members. Fawad Chaudhry’s arrest was challenged in Lahore High Court, and during the proceedings the court ordered to produce him.
It may be recalled that PTI leaders went to the police party and tried to apprise them of LHC orders, which now had been translated in the FIR as “interfering in official affairs” and “tearing uniforms of policemen”.
