RAWALPINDI: A man severely thrashed his mother and sister in Sadiqabad area, prompting outrage on social media after a video went viral.
Social media users are demanding justice for the woman Gulnaz Bibi who was brutally attacked by her son. The girl, Zoobia Ameer, shared a video saying her brother Arsalan beat her and their mother.
According to reports, the altercation took place over a financial and property dispute that ended up with a son beating his own mother and sister, while his wife just stood by.
Zoobia Ameer released a statement saying her brother took valuables including jewelry and cash from their home. She said despite launching a complaint, police are not taking action and refused to register a First Information Report (FIR).
Rawalpindi CPO Muhammad Ahsan Younis has taken notice of the incident of the torture on a woman by her son and daughter-in-law. The police officer has ordered to lodge a case and arrest the culprit in accordance with the law.
Superintendent Police Rawal said the medical checkup of the woman has been conducted and torture remarks were visible. A case has been registered against Arsalan and his wife while efforts are being made to arrest him.
He said those who show disrespect for sacred relations will be brought in front of the law and punished. However, Zoobia claimed that police released Arsalan after a few hours.
In a conversation in social media activist Waqar Zaka, the woman Gulnaz Bibi said her son attacked after over a domestic dispute. She ruled out rumours over a property dispute and said her son attacked her on the instigation of his wife.
On the other hand, the man’s wife Bisma has released another video saying that Zoobia was her husband’s step-sister, and denied allegations that Arsalan took away property documents from their home.
According to Bismah, the property belonged to her husband and they have documentary evidence. She alleged that Zoobia was spreading propaganda against them and wants the house for herself.
Bismah also claimed that she was six months pregnant and her mother-in-law had tortured her a few days ago, while her husband Arsalan was in a state of intoxication when he attacked his mother.
