KARACHI: An unidentified cargo has been trapped in the coastal area of Mubarak Village for the past eight days, causing panic among local fishermen.
According to details, the process of evacuating the ship from the coastal area is underway. In this regard, two cranes are being utilised in this operation.
Coal-laden ships on the coastal area of the Mubarak village have been trapped in rocky cliffs due to strong winds. Initially, rescue operations were carried out with four tugboats, and 2 excavators that have been requested to speed up the process of evacuating.
According to the authorities concerned, a coal-fired ship named Baraj has been completely caught between the rocks. Unless the rocks are broken the ship cannot be evacuated. A large number of local fishermen are also involved in the rescue operation.
The coal cargo of the ship belongs to a power company based in Balochistan. Pollution is likely to cause if the measures would not be taken immediately.
If the ship gets slightly damaged during the attempt to evacuate it, it can pollute the coastal area.
