The sale of cars in Pakistan surged by 137.91% in June 2024 compared to the same month in the previous fiscal year (2022-23), according to data released by the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA).
In June 2024, car sales reached 10,128 units, a significant increase from the 4,257 units sold in June 2023.
However, during the entire fiscal year 2023-24 (July-June), car sales experienced a decline of 15.63% compared to the same period in the previous year. A total of 81,677 cars were sold during this period, down from 96,811 units in the prior fiscal year.
Breaking down the figures, 11,501 units of Honda Civic and City were sold, a slight decrease from the 12,823 units sold in the previous fiscal year (2022-23). Toyota Corolla and Yaris sales also dropped by 13.44%, with 16,305 units sold compared to 18,838 units the previous year. Suzuki Swift saw a significant decline in sales, dropping by 40.38% to 5,567 units from 9,338 units last year.
Additionally, sales of the Suzuki Cultus fell to 3,689 units during the fiscal year under review, down from 6,956 units in the previous year. The Suzuki WagonR also experienced a decrease in sales, falling to 3,595 units from 5,434 units last year.
