KARACHI: The business community of the provincial capital of Sindh, has announced a complete strike in the city today against inflation and excessive electricity bills. All the markets in the city will remain completely closed today.
Chairman of Trade Development Authority Zubair Motiwala spoke to the media on the occasion of the businessmen’s meeting regarding the increase in electricity bills. He said that the Karachi Chamber is on a traders’ strike and there will be a complete strike today.

Zubair Motiwala said that the electricity tariff is not acceptable to us, small industries or big business is impossible on such expensive electricity. Every business segment is worried about high electricity bills. The caretaker government should sit and talk with IPPs.
He further said that there is an urgent need to revise the rates of power projects. During the meeting, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori also addressed the traders on video link. On this occasion, he assured him that he would go to Islamabad with the businessmen’s case. “I will give suggestions to the caretaker prime minister along with the businessmen,” he said.
