The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday approached the Supreme Court (SC) for the cancellation of bail of the former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi in Toshakhana-II case,
In its petition, the FIA argued that the single bench of the IHC did not take into account the facts while accepting the former first lady’s bail; so, therefore, its order could not be upheld. “Therefore, it is prayed to the court to cancel Bushra’s post-arrest bail and declare the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) order dated October 23, 2024 null and void.”
IHC Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb had accepted the bail plea of Bushra against Rs1 million surety bonds.
The court had also directed the authorities concerned to immediately release the former prime minister’s wife.
On July 13, 2024, Imran and Bushra were arrested in a fresh National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference, Toshakhana-II, hours after their acquittal in the Iddat case.
The NAB team, headed by Deputy Director Mohsin Haroon, arrested Imran and Bushra from the Adiala Jail.
The development came after the Islamabad district and sessions court accepted the couple’s appeals against their conviction in the Iddat case.
