Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, has approached the Islamabad High Court for better facilities in Adiala Jail, as reported by national media on Monday.
In the petition filed in the Islamabad High Court, the federal government, through the Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, the Superintendent of Adiala Jail, and the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, have been made parties.
The petition states that Bushra Bibi served as the First Lady from August 2018 to April 2022 and was a resident of the Prime Minister’s House. Due to her higher standard of living, Bushra Bibi is entitled to better facilities according to the law.
It further states that Bushra Bibi repeatedly requested jail authorities for better facilities. She asked the Superintendent of the Jail to determine her entitlement to better class accommodation, but her requests were ignored. Meanwhile, her husband, the founder of PTI, was granted better facilities in the same jail.
Bushra Bibi requested that the parties be directed to fulfill their legal responsibilities and that, under the Jail Rules of 1978, Bushra Bibi be provided with better facilities. Notably, Bushra Bibi is serving a 7-year prison sentence in the 190 million-pound case in Adiala Jail.
