KARACHI: A building collapsed on Monday afternoon at Karachi’s timber market which was built fifteen years ago.
The Sindh Building Control Authority had asked for the residence of the building to vacant the six-story building as soon as possible after it was vacant the building collapsed. It comprised 21 apartments. The building has been cordoned off by the rescue teams and other officials.
Ashkar Dawar, Managing Director of Sindh Building Control Authority, said Karachi has over 300 old and unsafe houses and buildings.

He mentioned that the representatives of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and its technical committee are reaching on collapsed building site in the timber market and will share further information in this regard.
Earlier, Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday inaugurated newly constructed underpass on Shaheed Millat Road in Karachi.
In a Twitter message Chief Minister, Sindh’s special assistant to the Information Murtaza Wahab said, “New underpass built on Shaheed Millat Road at the signal of Hyder Ali Road is ready & will b inaugurated by Chairman Bilawal on 30.12.19.
