ISLAMABAD: An important meeting of the National Assembly will be held today during which the budget for the next financial year will be presented.
According to details, a heated debate on the budget is expected in the national meeting to be held today under the chairmanship of Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf. Finance Minister Miftah Ismail will present the budget.
This will be the first budget of the coalition government since Shehbaz Sharif was sworn in as the Prime Minister. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other federal ministers will also attend the meeting.
According to the proposals, the budget volume will be 9500 billion, Rs.21 billion will be set aside for internal debt and interest payments on loans, Rs.3,500 billion for external debt and Rs. 650 billion for subsidies.
A proposal to keep the development budget at Rs 800 billion is under consideration. The development budget of the provinces will be 1384 billion out of which Punjab will get 585 billion, Sindh Rs.38.355 billion, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will get 299.96 billion.
A proposal to keep the volume of the development budget of Balochistan at 143.53 billion is under consideration. The national development budget will be 2,184 billion. 96.48 billion has been earmarked for Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The government is considering a proposal to set aside Rs 50 billion for integrated areas, including FATA. Separate budget allocations have also been made for departments under different ministries which will be announced today.
