The government economic team has approved the proposal of only a six percent increase in the salaries in the budget 2025-26 to be presented in the National Assembly today.
As per media reports, a meeting of the economic team was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in which a proposal to increase the salaries of government employees by six percent was approved.
Sources say that the final approval of the budget proposals will be given in the cabinet meeting. The federal cabinet meeting will be held at Parliament House today. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will chair the federal cabinet meeting.
The budget documents and the finance bill will be approved in the meeting. The cabinet will give final approval to the increase in salaries and pensions of government employees.
Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will brief the cabinet about the main features of the budget. Immediately after the cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister will attend the National Assembly session, where the finance minister will present the budget.
