ISLAMABAD: In the proposed budget for the financial year 2020-21, the federal government has allocated Rs 83.36 billion for the education sector.
According to the budget documents, the budget for education and services has been increased by about 7.9 percent for the next financial year.
In the current financial year 2019-20, the amount of Rs. 77.20 billion was allocated which has been increased to Rs. 83.36 billion.
Federal Minister Hamad Azhar in his budget speech had said that the development of uniform curriculum, standard system, formulation of examinations, the establishment of smart schools, the inclusion of madrassas in the national mainstream would improve the education system.
An amount of Rs. 5 billion has been further allocated for these reforms. Furthermore, higher education is one of the priority sectors.
“Research and other modern fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, automation, and space technology can be worked on for research and development to meet the standard education of the 21st century,” he added. Hence innovation in the field of education and Rs 30 billion has been allocated in this regard.
It is worth mentioning here that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has presented a budget of Rs 71.36 trillion in which no new tax has been announced.
