KARACHI: Breast cancer is a journey no woman wants to take but hundreds of thousands go through each year. Sadia Siddiqui, a breast cancer survivor, has shared her emotional journey during breast cancer awareness month in hopes of reaching others.
Talking to M.M News, Sadia Siddiqui said, “Many women diagnosed with breast cancer never have any signs or symptoms, and the same thing was with me. I didn’t have any symptoms.”
“There is a family history on my mom’s side. I and my sister were at high risk and I felt that when my age would be across 60, I may diagnose with this disease,” She added.
Sadia Siddiqui further said, “Being a busy mother, it is difficult to have me-time. Diagnosed with breast cancer was unexpected. Those words, ‘I have breast cancer’ don’t really roll off your tongue very easily. It was very hard.”
“However, with the help of Almighty Allah, and early detection of the disease, I successfully defeated cancer, Alhamdulillah” she added.
Commenting on the treatment of breast cancer, Sadia Siddiqui informed, “When you have cancer you might hear about the operation or other ways to treat cancer. These may not always be standard medical treatments.”
“It’s not common to have surgery as the only treatment. The treatment of this disease varies from person to person. In my case, it takes almost a year for the treatment,” she remarked.
She also said, “Every person, including my husband, children, and friends, fully supported me. Because, during that time you don’t need any kind of negativity around you,” adding, “You must self-examine and give time to yourself and if you feel a small cyst, immediately concerned to a doctor.”
