KARACHI: At least six people were killed and another 12 others sustained injuries after a boiler exploded within an ice depot, in New Karachi Industrial Area today (Tuesday).
According to details, rescue officials and law enforcement agencies have reached the spot. The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Moeenuddin has informed that the incident took place inside an ice and cold storage factory.
He said seven people were at work inside the factory when the blast occurred. DSP Moeenuddin said that the building has been “extensively damaged” and nearby factories have also been affected.
He further informed that many people are likely buried underneath the factory’s rubble. The rescue officials have informed that one woman is among those injured, adding that the roof of the ice depot caved in after the blast.
