NEW DELHI: A small explosion has been reported outside Israeli embassy in New Delhi today (Friday), the police have said, adding that there were no injuries or property damage.
According to Indian media, the explosion occurred at APJ Abdul Kalam Road near the Israel embassy, citing officials of Delhi Police. The explosion damaged the windshields of 4-5 cars and police have cordoned off the site.
Indian media, citing police sources, said that the explosive, an improvised explosive device (IED), was wrapped up in a plastic bag and left on the pavement outside the Jindal house, which is metres away from the embassy.
Visuals from the area showed a heavy deployment of police and security personnel standing outside the building, with several yellow Delhi Police barricades set up at both ends of the road. Three fire tenders were rushed to the spot, the official added.
