In a unique cross-border union, Mohammad Abbas Haider, son of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator Tahseen Shahid, married Andleep Zahra, a Pakistani girl, in an online nikkah ceremony.
The wedding took place virtually due to ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan, which prevented the groom from obtaining a visa.
The decision to hold the online ceremony was further influenced by the deteriorating health of the bride’s mother, who had been admitted to the ICU.
As a result, both families decided to proceed with the nikkah on Friday night, with the groom and his relatives gathering in a mosque and the bride’s family joining the event online.
Haider expressed optimism that his wife would soon receive her Indian visa without any complications.
The wedding was attended by several BJP leaders, including BJP MLC Brijesh Singh Prishu, who congratulated the couple and their families on the occasion.
