ISLAMABAD: Benazir Income Support Programme Secretary Ali Raza Bhutta has been removed from his designation as he was allegedly involved in corruption at the BISP.
Ali Raza Bhutta has been replaced by the Additional Secretary Yusuf Raza Khan. Besides Bhutta, a large number of other officials have also been accused of corruption in the BISP.
According to details, the decision was taken during a high-level meeting regarding the Benazir Income Support Program. It was decided that the officers who are involved in the corruption will be immediately removed.
During the meeting, it was also decided that an inquiry will be launched to find out why the corrupt elements were not prosecuted despite serious allegations and corroborative evidence already present against the corrupt officers. The corrupt ones also hired their own relatives that caused damage to the national treasury.
Ali Raza Bhatta is accused of handing over the survey task to the director, Taimoor Nasir, while the work given to him had been pending for eight years and yet incomplete. The national resources have been wasted in the survey and yet no investigation was launched to probe the matter.
Moreover, the BISP, along with other projects were misused by the corrupt officers which severely affected the project’s ability. During the meeting, it was also decided that action will be taken against senior officers on the allegations of corruption charges.
