The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has announced a new partnership with Riphah International University to provide market-oriented skill training to thousands of beneficiaries.
A meeting between Senator Rubina Khalid, Chairperson of BISP, and a delegation from Riphah International University marked the beginning of this collaboration. The discussion focused on identifying opportunities for joint efforts to deliver practical skill training to BISP beneficiaries and their families.
During the meeting, Senator Khalid highlighted the significance of international certifications in areas such as hospitality, nursing, midwifery, and home care. She emphasized that these credentials could significantly enhance job prospects for the beneficiaries.
The delegation from Riphah International University shared insights into their existing skill development programs, which are already in partnership with NAVTTC. Additionally, Senator Khalid proposed involving recent graduates in media and mass communication for internships within BISP’s media wing. She also suggested hosting an inter-university graphic design competition to raise awareness about BISP’s mission.
Reaffirming BISP’s commitment to empowering women—a core vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto—Senator Khalid urged a prompt finalization of the collaboration details with Riphah University. The upcoming skill development programs will also cover essential work ethics and hygiene education.
