LARKANA: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari distributed ownership rights certificates among 5,000 homeless flood victims of Larkana district in the first phase of the project.
The PPP chairman visited the village Vakiya Sangi of Larkana district and inspected the houses being built for the flood victims. During the visit, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, PPP Sindh President Nisar Khuhro, and provincial minister Sharjeel Memon were also present.
Addressing the event, Bilawal said the provincial government is providing financial assistance to the flood victims to rebuild their houses and now such houses are being constructed, which will be safe to a large extent in case of floods.
He said house ownership rights are a financial asset, which is being given to every woman of a displaced flood-affected family. He said more than 2.1 million houses will be given in Sindh to the flood victims.
Chief Operating Officer of Sindh People’s Housing for flood victims Malik Najaf Khan briefed the foreign minister about the project.
Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) Chief Executive Officer Dital Kalhoro also briefed about the houses to be built for flood victims in the village. He said the construction of 147 houses out of 266 flood-damaged houses in village Vakiya Sangi has started.
He also briefed that the first installment for the construction of houses for 138 village Vakiya Sangi flood victims, the second installment for 102 houses, and the third installment for 60 houses have been released.
Bilawal appreciated the efforts of Sindh People’s Housing for flood victims and SRSO for helping flood victims.
