Tragedy struck the Bangladeshi film industry as actor Shanto Khan and his father, producer Selim Khan, fell victim to a brutal mob attack during the recent unrest in Bangladesh.
While attempting to escape, they were confronted by an angry mob at Forkkabad Bazaar, leading to a fatal encounter. Despite firing shots in self-defense, they were later beaten to death by another mob near Bagara Bazaar.
The news sparked widespread outrage, with filmmaker Sudipto Sen expressing his anguish on social media: “I strongly condemn the heinous mob-lynching of talented actor Shanto Khan and his father, Salim Khan. This senseless violence is unacceptable and leaves me deeply saddened and angered.”
Selim Khan was the owner of Shapla Media, a prominent Dhaka-based entertainment company responsible for producing and distributing Bengali films. Indian actor Rajatava Dutta also expressed his shock and grief, stating, “As artists, we crave peace, harmony, and brotherhood.
