In March 2024, Netflix debuted its adventure crime series Bandidos, which follows a gang of skilled misfits on a quest to uncover a hidden Mayan treasure, drawing comparisons to Outer Banks. Season 1, consisting of seven episodes, was released on March 13, 2024. The good news is that the story will continue with a second season arriving in early 2025.
The renewal was kept under wraps, as Netflix did not make an official announcement. However, Spanish-language outlets reported the renewal after actors revealed they were filming season 2. Ester Expósito, known for Elite, confirmed the renewal and filming on Instagram on April 1, 2024. Reports suggest filming began as early as January, months before season 1 premiered.
Details for season 2 were previously scarce, but Netflix has now released the trailer on December 20, 2024. The trailer reveals that Lilí and Miguel’s peaceful escape is disrupted when Lilí is forced into a high-risk quest to retrieve the Tear of Fire diamond, putting everything on the line to save her friends.
At the end of season 1, the group’s adventure concludes on a Caribbean island, where they uncover the treasure. A confrontation with their pursuers leads Ariel to take action, while Lilí escapes with the loot. Miguel attempts to stop her by shooting, but it’s soon revealed as a ruse. With enemies closing in, Lilí fakes her death and assumes a new identity as Daniela.
Meanwhile, the rest of the crew celebrates their wealth, with Ariel guarding the golden jaguar. The season ends with Miguel and Daniela escaping, setting the stage for their next moves amidst the fallout from their deception. The trailer of Season 2 has garnered over 45,000 views on YouTube in just 48 hours.
