Officials from the Ministry of Commerce have confirmed that the ban on the export of gold jewellery has been lifted, and a summary has been sent to the Prime Minister for the restoration of exports.
According to media reports, the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Commerce held a meeting chaired by Javed Hanif.
The issue of the export ban on gold jewellery was discussed during the session.
A representative from the jewellery sector informed the committee that the ban on gold jewellery exports was imposed in May under an FBR SRO and was set to remain in effect until June 30.
He requested that the restriction be permanently lifted to facilitate the export sector.
Commerce Ministry officials responded that the ban has already expired, and a formal summary has been sent to the Prime Minister. Once approved, the matter will be forwarded to the Federal Cabinet for final approval.
