Punjab government has banned temporary mechanical swing rides during Eidul Fitr, citing concerns over public safety.
A formal directive has been issued to all deputy commissioners, ensuring the ban is enforced across the province.
The Punjab Home Department explained that the decision was made to safeguard lives, particularly as large crowds, including families and children, are expected to visit recreational areas during the holiday.
“Temporary mechanical swings present a serious safety risk. This action is necessary to ensure public safety during the Eid celebrations,” a spokesperson for the Home Department said.

To ensure proper enforcement, a central control room has been established at the Home Department, operating around the clock throughout the Eid holidays. Senior officials will monitor security and ensure the effective implementation of the ban.
However, amusement parks, theme parks, and play areas with permanent mechanical swings that meet safety regulations will be allowed to operate.
These permanent rides will require fitness certificates, with district commissioners responsible for verifying compliance with safety standards.
