ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is reported to have suspended two of its officers on charges of leaking tax information of outgoing Army Chief General Bajwa.

MM News learnt that after initial investigation, FBR officers Atif Nawaz and Zahoor Ahmad were found guilty of the leaks of tax records of General Bajwa and his family members, after which they were placed under suspension.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had claimed just three days back that people behind the of Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s income tax records had been traced, and that leaking army chief’s income tax returns was “illegal”.

The preliminary investigation suggested that the data of General Bajwa and his family members was leaked from IDs of both officers who were currently under suspension.
It may be recalled that Dar has directed the SAPM on Revenue Tariq Mehmood Pasha to personally lead an immediate investigation into the violation of tax law and breach of FBR data, affix responsibility and submit a report within twenty-four hours.
