LAHORE: A woman in Lahore has accused Pakistan cricket team skipper, Babar Azam of sexual and financial exploitation, just before the New Zealand tour.
“Babar Azam, who is now enjoying captaincy of Pakistan cricket team, has sexually abused for the past 10 years,” said the woman, Hamiza Mukhtar, while addressing a press conference in Lahore today (Saturday).
The woman alleged that she was in a relationship with the cricketer even before he entered the cricket field. According to the woman, they lived in the same vicinity and both were school-fellows as well.
The woman has threatened to set herself ablaze in front of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) if she failed to get justice. She also provided documents regarding “abortion” at a local hospital.
She claimed that Babar Azam proposed to her in 2010 and she eloped with Babar for court marriage in 2011 because both their families didn’t agree with their relationship. “He has been exploiting me for ten years by giving false promises of marriage,” she added.
Hamiza further claimed that she got a job and supported Babar financially and gave away all the income she earned from her saloon to Babar Azam. “I had played a key role financially in making Babar Azam a cricketer,” she claimed.
“His (Babar) attitude towards me started changing as soon as he was selected for the national team,” she added. The woman also claimed that she got pregnant in 2015 and when Babar knew that he severely tortured her and later forced me into the abortion with the help of his two friends and brother.
Hamiza claimed that cricketer Usman Qadir also knew about the whole episode. “Babar had abused and tortured me physically many times,” she added. She said she even reached to the police in 2017 to register a complaint against Babar. “Babar did not appear before the police but forced me to sign a conditional reconciliation agreement,” she added.
The woman claimed that she loves Babar and doesn’t have any other vested interests and it was the love she had beared all for past 10 years. “No one from Babar’s family ever came to witness his match before 2017 while I always supported Babar to help him achieve his goal,” she added.
She also threatened to continue to protest against Babar at every forum till she got justice for all the wrongdoings done by Babar to her. She also demanded of the PCB to remove Babar from captaincy at once.
