LAHORE: Pakistan’s all-format captain Babar Azam has overtaken former Indian captain Virat Kohli in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) Test batsman rankings.
Virat Kohli, who gave a disappointing performance in the recently concluded Test series against Sri Lanka, has slipped four places and is now at ninth position in the rankings while Babar Azam has moved up to 8th position.
Babar Azam is now ahead of Virat Kohli in the rankings of all three formats as Virat Kohli is in poor form at the moment while Babar Azam is in excellent form and has scored the highest Test score in the Pakistan Karachi Test against Australia.

Babar’s marathon innings in the second Test against Australia is not included in the latest ICC rankings. Kohli, meanwhile, has failed to make a century in the last three years after scoring his last international century in 2019.
In the Test rankings, Marin Luboshen tops the list with 936 points, Joe Root is second with 872 points, Steve Smith is third with 851 points, Ken Williamson is fourth with 844 points, Dimuth Cronartne is fifth with 781 points and Rohit Sharma is sixth with 754 points. Travis Head is seventh with 753 points, Babar Azam is eighth with 743 points, Virat Kohli is ninth with 742 points and Rishbha Pant is 10th with 738 points.
