KARACHI: Pakistan’s star batsman Babar Azam has become the leading T20 runs scorer in 2020.
According to details, Babar Azam surpassed English batsman Alex Hales as the highest T20 runs scorer in the ongoing calendar year. Recently, he played an inning of 64 runs to help his team Central Punjab win against Balochistan in the National T20 Cup match in Rawalpindi.
He has also scored three consecutive half-centuries in the tournament. The innings took Babar’s total runs tally of T20 runs in this year to 942, the most by any cricketer in 2020.
He is followed by Hales who has scored 895 runs in the year. This is the second consecutive year when Babar Azam has scored the highest runs in the T20 format.

He finished last year with 1607 T20 runs to remain as the leading runs scorer of the year. While exclusively speaking in the 26th edition of the PCB Podcast last week, Azam said that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) deserves a lot of credit for announcing a time-served domestic season.
“National T20 cup has begun very well in Multan. I am hopeful that the passion and excitement would be the same when the Rawalpindi-leg begins,” he added.
