The first fake post appeared on Monday afternoon, crafted so convincingly that it briefly misled cricket fans.
Within seconds of this initial post, an even more sensational fake retirement announcement was made from a different parody account, quickly going viral and catching the attention of the media.
Azam, who has been consistently underperforming in the longer format of the game, was dismissed after scoring only 11 runs in the second innings of the second Test against Bangladesh.
As the captain of the white-ball team, Babar Azam has managed to score just 331 runs in 106 consecutive Test innings, without a single fifty.
