Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Swati was arrested again moments after his release from Attock Jail on Tuesday.
He has reportedly been taken to some undisclosed location. Earlier, Swati had been arrested in cases, comprising 22 charges, filed at the Taxila police station
It should be noted that the Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court had granted him bail on Monday.
PTI founder Imran Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Swati and others were booked on October 8 in different cases, including one pertaining to the death of an Islamabad policeman during the party’s protest in the federal capital.
On November 1, a division bench of IHC invalidated the physical remand given to PTI leader Azam Swati by the trial court in eight cases and remanded him to jail through judicial remand.
Bench comprising Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb and Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir heard a series of petitions filed by the counsel for Azam Swati against the ATC Judge Abul Hastat Zulqarnain for granting him physical remand in eight cases.
Meanwhile, Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb expressed regret over his harsh remarks against Judge Zulqarnain on Wednesday, as he went ahead with the continuation of the case. “I should not have uttered such words because the judge was not present in court,” he said.
