KARACHI: The Sindh police are on high alert as they clashed with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers and activists protesting at Karachi’s Numaish Chowrangi in connection with the party’s long march towards Islamabad.
According to details, police fired tear gas and baton-charged PTI protesters at the Chowrangi after hundreds of them gathered at the spot. Scores of protesters were dispersed following police action and were forced to seek shelter in nearby lanes.
The police swing into action as soon as PTI workers and activists including women reached Numaish Chowrangi to stage a sit-in in connection with the party’s Islamabad Azadi March.

According to traffic police, MA Jinnah road and its adjoining areas have been blocked. Amid roads that have been blocked include:
- The road leading toward People’s Chowrangi from Numaish Chowarnagi
- Corridor 3 New Preedy Street from Saddar Dawakhana road leading towards People Chowrangi
- Nizami Road (heading from Lines areas to Numaish Chowarngi ) has also been blocked
- The road leading towards Numaish Chowrangi from Capri Cinema has been closed; traffic is being directed toward Soldier Bazar.
- Traffic heading from Society Signal toward Numaish Chowrangi is being diverted to Kashmir Road
PTI chairman Imran Khan is currently on his container and moving towards Islamabad from Swabi with a massive crowd of PTI supporters and workers.
The government has cut road links between KP and Punjab as police parties continue to raid the homes of PTI activists. The authorities have also imposed Section 144 in Sindh, Punjab, and Islamabad Capital Territory, banning the assembly of more than four people.
