KARACHI: Anti Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) of Sindh police claimed to have apprehended six motorcycle lifters in Karachi.
According to the senior superintendent of police (SSP), the lifters were allegedly involved in stealing motorcycles from the city. Seven motorbikes were also recovered from the custody of the lifters. The arrested were identified as Rana Niaz, Ashiq Ali, Tahir, Danish, Haider Ali and Ali Anwar.
“Accused Ashiq Ali is a buyer of stolen motorbikes and sells stolen motorbikes in Sujawal,” SSP said. The authorities said the father of accused Ali Haider alias Javed Abro had also been arrested and jailed 14 times in motorcycle theft cases.
The accused committed most of the crime in Bin Qasim, Quaidabad, Landhi, Malir and other areas of the metropolis. They have been shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigations into the matter.
Earlier, the AVLC Jamshed Town arrested a gang of five habitual motorcycle lifters and recovered two stolen motorcycles and one pistol from their possession.
According to the spokesperson, the suspects were heroin addicts who sold stolen motorcycles in Balochistan in exchange for narcotics.
The arrested suspects included Nadeem, son of Dur Muhammad, Zahoor, son of Abdul Aziz, Aslam, son of Shaban, Ali Gabol, son of Ismail, and Hameed Makranil, son of Abdul Sattar.
The AVLC has arrested many suspected motorcycle lifters in recent days. Police claimed to have busted a gang of motorcycle lifters during a raid in the Baldia Town locality.
