KARACHI: The Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) has claimed to have arrested 10 suspects allegedly involved in various cases of motorcycle and car theft in the metropolis.
According to sources, the suspects were arrested during a series of raids in the SITE Area, Sohrab Goth and Sachal area. Officials of the cell also claimed to have recovered snatched and stolen motorcycles, cars from the suspects’ possession.
Sources said Fakhr-ud-Din Mandrani, son of Sadruddin, a major buyer of stolen and snatched cars and motorcycles from different areas of the city.
The accused Fakhr-ud-Din Mandrani was arrested along with a stolen car, a hand grenade and an illegal pistol. The accused has made CNIC under the fake name Shehzad Hussain and also wanted to AVLC police in 40 cases.
The arrested suspects were habitual motorcycle snatchers and lifters who used to sell the stolen motorcycles in Balochistan and to scrap dealers, sources said, adding that they were all arrested for the first time and hence had no earlier criminal record.
During the operation, AVLC recovered 13 stolen and snatched cars, two hand grenades and three pistols without a license. Action is being taken to arrest more accused, a police official said.
