QUETTA: Security forces in Balochistan have thwarted an attempt to smuggle tons of sugar and urea, according to reports gathered by MM News.
The Joint Anti Smuggling Operations were carried out by Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan (South), civil administration and Customs authorities in Yakmach-Kharan, N-40 and Khurmagai areas from 15-17 April 2023, based on credible intelligence.
During the operations, 53 trucks were seized in 5 villages, carrying 44,800 bags (2,240 tons) of sugar and urea on Yakmach-Khn Road on 15th April 2023. The estimated cost of the seized items stands at millions of rupees.
MM News has further learnt that the confiscated goods were handed over to Customs authorities at Dalbandin/ Shahugairi under the protection of FC Balochistan (South). However, there has been no official confirmation of any arrest made in the anti-smuggling operations.
On the other hand, however, a Facebook page gone live on Wednesday, purporting to show of smuggling of flour and sugar, going on unabated and unhindered.
