ISLAMABAD: Anti-Terrorism Court sent human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari to jail on charges of sedition and incitement against the state.
Former MNA and Pakhtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) Ali Wazir was also remanded in jail. ATC judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain conducted the hearing as Imaan Mazari and Ali Wazir were produced in the court.
Both were presented to ATC after three days of physical remand. Imaan’s mother Shireen Mazari consoled and hugged her daughter outside the courtroom before the hearing.
The prosecutor informed the court that voice matching and photogrammetrical tests have been conducted. He said the transcripts of written speeches have to be received.
He asked for further physical remand of Imaan Mazari and Ali Wazir to continue probe. “What have you done in the past three days?” the judge asked.
The judge rejected the request and sent them to jail on judicial remand. The court said Imaan Mazar should be allowed to meet her mother.
