LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Tuesday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and other party leaders.
The ATC judge Abher Gul Khan issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the PTI chairman and other party leaders including Mian Aslam Iqbal, Hammad Azhar, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema, Musarrat Jamshed Cheema and Hassan Ullah Niazi.
The court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant at the request of the investigating officer.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) office in the province capital was attacked, and cases against the accused were filed at the Naseerabad and Model Town police stations in Lahore.
Since being removed from office by a no-trust resolution in April of last year, the deposed prime leader has been the target of dozens of lawsuits ranging from terrorism to corruption.
Following protests caused by the former PM’s detention in the Al-Qadir Trust case on May 9, other party leaders, including the party chief, were also charged with terrorism.
Yesterday, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former prime minister secured an extension in interim bail in six cases registered against him in Islamabad.
The PTI chief appeared before the Islamabad court in six cases registered against Karachi Company police station, PS Secretariat, Ramana police station and Tarnol police station.
