Karachi: All Karachi Retailers’ Welfare Association has given the administration a 72-hour ultimatum to raise milk prices.
A protest was held at the press club by the All Karachi Retailers Association for an increase in milk prices.
Hafiz Muhammad Nasar Gaddi stated that milk sales will be halted from Monday in Karachi if the government fail to meet their demands.
Nasar Gaddi said that dairy farmers cannot sell expensive milk at a lower price; they mentioned that dairy farmers are still selling milk to retailers at Rs. 214 to Rs. 218 per liter.
He said that they can’t buy expensive milk and sell it at a lower price; the Karachi commissioner has demanded a price from dairy farmers, and they raise prices, affecting small retailers.

Gaddi stated that milk cannot be bought at this price and sold; retailers should have a margin of Rs. 20 per liter. He said that if demands are not met, 12 to 15 thousand milk retailers in Karachi will stop buying milk.
Spokesperson Wahid Gaddi mentioned that due to rising inflation and decreased purchasing power, milk sales are declining.
