SUKKUR: An accountability court has extended the hearing of a plea filed by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Khursheed Shah in the assets case for 10 days.
SHC bench heard the bail petition in which the lawyers of 16 accused nominated by the National Accountability Bureau in Rs 1.23 billion assets beyond means case argued before the bench for pre-arrest bails of their clients.
Syed Khursheed Shah and Razzaq Bahrani earlier filed petitions in the high court for the bail after arrest. Provincial minister Awais Qadir Shah and Farrukh Shah MPA also appeared in the court hearing.
The bureau also nominated two wives, two sons and son-in-law of Khursheed Shah in the case.
Shah was granted bail in December 2019 by an accountability court. However, the National Accountability Bureau challenged the decision of his release in the high court.
Khursheed Shah was arrested on 18th September last year by the NAB in Islamabad in a joint raid by the anti-corruption watchdog’s Rawalpindi and Sukkur bureau. His wives, son, and nephew are among eighteen co-accused in the reference and were also asked to appear in the court. He is facing charges of possessing assets amounting to Rs500 billion through illegal means.
According to the document, he was accused of transferring an amnesty plot in Sukkur, Rohri, and Karachi, Glamour Bungalow, Junejo Flour Mills, Mukesh Flour Mills including 83 other properties were made under Shah’s frontman, Pehlaj Rai.
