ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser on Wednesday appealed to all the religious scholars to support the government in the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Qaiser said authorities are in contact with the delegations of Tableeghi Jamaat and those representing Zaireens to address their issues on a priority basis.
The National Assembly Speaker said all the concerned ministries have been given instructions to resolve all issues faced by Tableeghi Jamaat and Zaireens.
He appealed to the religious scholars of all schools of thought to cooperate with the government in containing the spread of the COVID-19. The speaker said “We will work on war footing to bring back the stranded Pakistanis abroad including Zaireen”.
He said the citizens should spend Shab-e-Barat in their homes, adding that people should offer special prayers during the night to restrain the spread of the deadly COVID-19.
He assured the people that the government will fulfill its responsibility in the present circumstances and will not disappoint them.
Underscoring the need for joint efforts against the epidemic, he stressed that “We will have to collectively overcome this challenge”.
On this occasion, Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Noorul Haq Qadri said that they are taking on board all the prominent religious figures in order to address their problems caused by the epidemic.
He said Shab-e-Barat is the night of reverence, fervour and divine blessings for the Muslims, adding that people should offer their special prayers at homes as a protective measure against the spread of the COVID-19.
