ISLAMABAD: About 32 million adults in Pakistan are suffering from high blood pressure, of which only 44 percent are aware of their disease.
According to the latest report of the World Health Organization, about 32 million people between 30 and 79 years of age in Pakistan are suffering from hypertension or high blood pressure, only 44% of them are diagnosed while only 35% of them are undiagnosed.

About 450,000 people die of heart disease in Pakistan every year, of which 58% die due to complications resulting from high blood pressure. According to the report, 21 percent of people aged 15 years and above are smokers in Pakistan, including 34 percent of males and 8 percent of females.
According to the report, about 24 percent of adults in Pakistan do not do any physical exercise, including 24 percent of men and 43 percent of women. According to the report, there are no guidelines for the treatment of high blood pressure in Pakistan. A person consumes about eight grams of salt per day. According to the report of the Health Organization, from 1990 to 2019, the number of people suffering from high blood pressure increased from 65 million to 1.3 billion.
