According to Dawn News, the Army Chief’s mother passed away last night. Her funeral prayer will be offered today in Rawalpindi. The President, Prime Minister, federal ministers, members of Parliament, officers of the armed forces, and General Asim Munir’s family members will attend the funeral prayer.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani, and other prominent figures have expressed their condolences to the Chief of Army Staff.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while expressing sorrow over the passing of General Asim Munir’s mother, stated that they share the grief of the bereaved family. The Prime Minister also prayed for the departed soul’s elevation in ranks.
Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi, Governor Kamran Tessori, and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also extended their condolences to the Army Chief and prayed for the deceased’s forgiveness and high ranks in the hereafter.
Leaders and heads of political parties have also expressed their condolences to the Army Chief on the passing of his mother. In a statement, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, offered his condolences and prayed that Allah elevates the ranks of the deceased and grants patience to the bereaved family.
